Don't hold your breath waiting for a Recruiter to knock on your door. They have plenty of recruits & are busy as hell. I suggest that you at least contact a Recruiting Station. Ask a few questions, get your name on the list. You're under no obligation to enlist at that point. If the Recruiter wants you to come in on a Tuesday & you'd rather go another day that's totally up to you. The only obligation you'll have is after you go to MEPS, take the ASVAB, physical & get your contract written & signed. Then you'll get sworn in & at that time you'll be obligated. The time around the Christmas season has been traditionally a slow time for Recruiters & it might be a good time to get the ball rolling. Although with the civilian job situation all bets are off. There are many that are joining because they can't find a job. At this time it's taking about 6 months between signing the contract & actually shipping to basic training so even if you signed up today you probably won't leace until early summer. Have you thought about which MOS you'd like to take? A good idea is to have a plan B, C & D. Many MOSs are filled for quite some time & depending on how long you want to wait it could take a while before the MOS you want is available. Future Soldiers Program. To enter into the FSTP (formerly known as the Delayed Entry Program), you must do the same thing that anyone who wants to enlist must do - go talk to a recruiter! You'll fill out the paperwork, go to MEPS, and do all the things a regular recruit does, but instead of shipping off to BCT, you'll have up to a year to finish your high school education. In that time you'll meet with your recruiter from time to time, do some PT, and take some internet classes to prepare you for things you'll be learning in BCT. The advantage of this is it will bump you up one rank when you graduate BCT, which will give you a little more pay each month. The requirements to enter into the FSTP are pretty straightforward. You must be medically able to serve, have almost completed your education requirements to enlist, and have passed your 1. The FSTP is not just for high school students - if you have a GED and are almost done with your 1.

One of the great assets to using interval running (running mixed with walking, in this case) is the tremendous degree of flexibility. You can vary the intensity of your running within the interval, the amount of time that you run, and the walking time. Because of this, you can definitely accomplish both goals this year. You currently have a solid base of run- walking, which is a good starting point for your half marathon training (by the way, the 4/2 is my husband’s favorite interval). One way you can train for your half- marathons and increase your running time is to break your year into two seasons, one for each half- marathon. That way, you can build your running time slowly and make the most out of each event. For the first half- marathon, I’d recommend continuing to run- walk for the long training runs, and focus on building your running interval to continuous running for the mid- week runs. For example, in my Beginner Half Marathon Training Plan, there are three to four running workouts per week; one long run plus two to three shorter runs. Season One Goal > Build your running interval time for the mid- week workouts. Advertisement. Advertisement. For the Long Runs: Follow the training plan in this plan, but instead of running continuously run- walk with your 4- 2 run- to- walk intervals. This will allow you to build up endurance and time on your feet with the interval your body knows and loves. For the Mid- Week Runs: Follow the training plan, which begins at 3. Here is an example of an effective progression rate for these runs through the 1. Week 1: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 4- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 4- 2 ratio. Week 2: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 4- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 4- 2 ratio. Week 3: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 4- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 4: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 4- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 5: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 5- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 4- 1 ratio. Week 6: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 5- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 7: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 6- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 5- 1 ratio. Week 8: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 6- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 9: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 7- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 6- 1 ratio. Week 1. 0: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 7- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 1. 1: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 8- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 7- 1 ratio. Week 1. 2: Perform 3- 4 runs with a 8- 1 run- walk ratio. Week 1. 3: Perform 1- 2 runs with a 9- 1 run- walk ratio and one run with a 8- 1 ratio. Week 1. 4: Race week > Perform shorter taper runs with a 1. Run your first half marathon with a 4- 2 run- walk ratio to allow your body a strong race finish and to cover a new personal record distance (1. It’s a fantastic race day strategy for first- timers, as it breaks the distance up into timed intervals and reduces the impact on the body. After you recover from the half marathon and begin to train for the second half- marathon, shift your goals to continue to train to run more and walk less. Learn how to recover from a half marathon in this column. Season Two Goal > Run continuously for the mid- week runs and build your running interval time for the long training runs. For the Mid- Week Runs: Follow the beginner training plan again, but this time you’ll be continuously running the mid- week workouts, which begin at 3. For the Long Runs: Follow the beginner training plan mileage buildup, but instead of run- walking 4- 2s, build the running time week to week. Here’s one way you could build your running interval time for the long runs. Week 1: Long run 4 miles; run- walk 5- 2. Week 2: Long run 5 miles; run- walk 5- 2. Week 3: Long run 5 miles; run- walk 6- 2. Week 4: Long run 6 miles; run- walk 6- 2. Week 5: Long run 7 miles; run- walk 6- 1. Week 6: Long run 5 miles; run- walk 6- 1. Week 7: Long run 8 miles; run- walk 7- 1. Week 8: Long run: 8 miles; run- walk 7- 1. Week 9: Long run: 6 miles; run- walk 8- 1. Week 1. 0: Long run: 9 miles; run- walk 8- 1. Week 1. 1: Long run: 7 miles; run- walk 9- 1. Week 1. 2: Long run: 1. Week 1. 3: Long run: 6 miles; run- walk 1. Week 1. 4: Race day > Walk a minute every mile or use the 1. Let your body be your guide as you progress the long run- walk ratio. If you find yourself struggling to finish the long runs, it might be a sign that the ratio is too much or the heat of summer is getting to you. Add another week or two to the progression rate and go by what works for you. Good luck with your journey this year. Remember you can always use the run- walk strategy for recovery days and longer runs in the heat, or mix it in with continuous running. There are a fair amount of runners out there that prefer to run- walk their long workouts and run everything else. And run- walk intervals are a staple in ultra running. Wright- Patterson Air Force Base - Fact Sheet (Printable) : AIR FORCE WINGMAN PROGRAMThe Air Force established the Wingman program to encourage Airmen and their families to look out for each other and to intervene when signs of stress are observed. The Wright- Patterson Air Force Base Wingman Support Coordinator serves as the point of contact for providing guidance and education on adopting the Wingman culture and integrating the Wingman concept into unit activities. This office is also responsible explaining the principles of the Wingman "BOLD FACE" concept and the dimensions of wellness. The Wingman Support Coordinator can be reached at (9. ABW. CVK@wpafb. af.
What is a Wingman? The term Wingman stems from a time- honored tradition within our Air Force flying community that essentially says a lead pilot will never lose his/her Wingman. It's a promise, a pledge, a commitment between Airmen who fly. The Air Force wants to cultivate and instill this same culture of commitment between all Airmen and Air Force civilians in all career fields and specialties via the Wingman program. BOLD FACE actions. Also borrowed from the aviation community, "BOLD FACE" actions are the steps necessary to promptly and completely deal with in- flight emergencies. They are committed to memory by pilots to ensure a methodical, consistent approach to a hazardous situation. The lessons learned after a suicide indicate the "in- flight emergency" signs were present, but not addressed by fellow Wingmen. If those Airmen knew the 4 basic steps of the Wingman "BOLD FACE" they would have: 1) Assessed the desire for self harm 2) Assessed the means for self harm 3) Assessed the status of the 4 dimensions of wellness (Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual) 4) Stayed on their Wingman's wingtip until a positive hand- off was complete (In other words, don't leave the Wingman alone, hand over to a supervisor, first sergeant, commander, and/or other helping agency.
